Funds raised at this year’s event will support the Home Fire Campaign, an initiative that aims to reduce the number of fire deaths and injuries in the U.S. by 25 percent by 2020. The Red Cross working in collaboration with local fire departments and other community partners visits homes to install smoke alarms, replace alarm batteries and help residents make home fire escape plans.
